New Construction of Heidelberg Congress Center
The new congress centre has been built in the centre of the new Bahnstadt district in Heidelberg according to the plans of the architectural office Degelo Architekten. For the new building, the Neckartäler Hartsandstein, rot-weiß, was predominantly used as a stone masonry, only in the area of the trapezoidal soffits as a curtain-type, rear-ventilated façade.
The surface finish of the almost windowless natural stone façade is largely line-split. The drop-shaped window frames with their honed surface, which were produced with our robots as 3D moulded parts, form an attractive contrast. Window sills, corner stones and attic elements were also made from Neckartäler Hartsandstein.
The Heidelberg Congress Centre meets the passive house standard and was awarded gold in the ‘New Building’ category by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). A total of approx. 5,500 m2 of façade surface was realised with the regional Neckartäler Hartsandstein, rot-weiß in this project.
